About Us

The Pacific Paediatric Association Incorporated was formed in May 2012 as an incorporated society, bringing together Pacific Paediatricians in a collaborative effort. The association's primary mission is to advance the health and well-being of children and young people across the Pacific region.

The association aims to facilitate professional development, support research, and advocate for policies that promote equitable health outcomes. By fostering collaboration among healthcare professionals, the Pacific Paediatric Association plays a cruicial role in addressign the unique health challenges faced by children in the region.

Through various initiatives, the association strives to improve healthcare delivery, enhance medical education, and ultimately contribute to the holistic development of young individuals across the pacific.

Our Mission

The mission will be fulfilled through the following specific objectives of the association:

  • Advocate for the rights and needs of children and young people in the Pacific.

  • Support the development of services for children and young people across the region.

  • Enhance professional education and training for Pacific Paediatricians and Child Health clinicians.

  • Facilitate knowledge exchange between Pacific Paediatricians and their international peers.

  • Encourage research and the publication of "Best Practices" in Paediatrics.

  • Elevate the professional status of Paediatricians in the Pacific and strengthen connections with other professional organizations.

  • Provide a platform for Pacific Island Paediatricians to discuss and challenges in their practice.

  • Promote ethical principles in Paediatrics, tailored to the context of Pacific Island countries.

  • Advocate for policy making that supports child and youth health in the Pacific.
